Siemens Ltd
In mid-2007, we were contacted by the Communications Director of Siemens Ltd Australia. The company had urgent content writing and editing requirements that could not be fulfilled internally at the time.
The first project we completed was writing the Siemens Australia Business Overview. The forthcoming opening of the interactive Innovation Forum at the company’s headquarters in Bayswater, Victoria made this a rush project. After receiving the background information and completing additional research, we completed the 5,000-word draft in less than two weeks. The draft was submitted to the department leaders in the organization for review and was approved with only minor changes.
After the successful completion of the project, we also wrote the Director’s speech for the opening ceremony for the Innovation Forum. Over the next twelve months, until additional in-house communications staff were hired, we wrote and edited a range of content for the company including brochures, case studies, magazine articles, speeches and presentations.
Stargate Group
The Stargate Group provides leading edge technology and mortgage solutions to aggregators, brokers and lenders. In 2006, the company approached us to write content for one of its news websites covering the mortgage and finance broking industry. Over the next two years we wrote over 200 articles that appeared on their website. In writing the articles, we conducted research to determine relevant topics, interviewed industry leaders and attended industry events.
Mathew Campbell-Burns, who was Product Manager at Stargate Group, offered the following feedback on our content writing:
Word Nerds consistently provides articles that are thoroughly investigated and well balanced. Their writing has significantly contributed to our reputation in the market. They deliver articles that are first to print, which keeps us ahead of our competitors. Thank you Word Nerds for your great support.
Australian Careers Business College
The Australian Careers Business College (ACBC) is a leading private vocational education provider that has campuses in Liverpool, Parramatta and Wollongong. The college specialises in preparing students for rewarding careers in accounting, business administration, childcare, counselling, network security, legal services, marketing, and travel and tourism.
In late 2009, we were contacted by Ann Elisha, the founder and director of Australian Careers Business College (ACBC) located in Sydney. The college needed ongoing writing and editing support with its marketing efforts. We started by rewriting letters that the college sends to current and prospective students, high school career counsellors, and employers who host their work experience students. After the completion of this project, we began writing marketing content for the college. Over the years this has included writing website content (www.acbc.nsw..edu.au, which now ranks highly on Google for relevant keywords), brochures, media releases, student profiles, direct mail pieces, speeches and more. In 2012, we created the college’s first newsletter. We now write and edit content for their weekly newsletter, and continue writing and editing marketing content as needed.
In addition, we have been writing and editing content for ACBC’s award submissions and have helped them achieve finalist and winning places in a number of award competitions, including the Telstra Business Awards (finalist), NSW Training Awards (state finalist), Liverpool Local Business Awards (winner) and Parramatta Local Business Awards (winner).
DB Schenker
DB Schenker is multinational company that was founded in Germany in the late 19th century. In 2013, the Australian division celebrated 50 years at a gala event held at the Sydney Opera House. We were contacted by the Marketing and Communications Director to write a speech for the Managing Director. Based on research of the company’s history in Australia and phone interviews, we created a 10-minute speech for the event. After receiving feedback on the draft, we made a few minor changes as requested. We also adapted the speech for delivery at 50th anniversary events in South Australia and Western Australia.
Joe Dadic, DB Schenker Australia’s Marketing and Communications Director, offered the following feedback about our speechwriting services:
I utilised the services of Word Nerds for the speech that was delivered at our organisation’s 50th Anniversary function that hosted very distinguished clients of prominent organisations. It was truly astounding to witness the level of audience engagement throughout the entire 10- minute presentation that delivered a very emotional and personal touch.
The comments have been nothing short of exceptional not only from our clients, but also our employees of a night that will truly be remembered. I have no reservations in recommending Word Nerds and have since used their services on a few more projects.
Epsilon Healing Academy
In early 2014, author and speaker Gregory Malouf contacted us about editing his latest book, Have It All: Turn your thinking around and find success in 6 simple steps. Due to planned media engagements, he had tight timeframe to have the book edited and published. He provided the 40,000-word manuscript to us in mid February and we completed the editing in early March. Gregory had written the book quickly so it required a large amount of editing to correct errors and inconsistencies, and eliminate repeated content. The book was successfully published and is now available at amazon.com, where it has received an average rating of 5 out of 5 stars from readers. Commenting on our editing services, Gregory said: “Well done and thank you for your professionalism and fine editing skills. You were an absolute pleasure to work with and I look forward to using your editing services for my next book.”
Ooh La Laa Premium Hosiery
Ooh La Laa Premium Hosiery has developed the unique concept of selling women’s stockings through vending machines in shopping centres, workplaces and public transport stations. The machines were successfully rolled out at locations including Toll Dnata, Virgin Airlines, Menzies Aviation, and the Galeries Shopping Centre in Sydney. Donald Lal, owner of the company, wanted to make his products available to a larger market, so he contacted Sydney Trains about installing his vending machines at their stations. Management at Sydney Trains requested a detailed proposal from Ooh La Laa Premium Hosiery plus supporting documentation including a Policies and Procedures Manual, Contract Management Plan and Safety Management Plan.
We conducted research on the requirements for the proposal and all the other documentation required, and interviewed the business owner to get a better understanding of his business and offering. We then completed the drafts and made minor changes based on the client’s feedback. As a result of the documentation, the request to install the vending machines was approved and they can now be found at train stations in central Sydney.
